Australia's Favourite Cycling Festival is Back

Written By Agile Group

It's Lycra season again! No Lycra for the Agile Safety and Property Services teams though -  of course our Traffic Controllers are in full PPE, and our Cleaning Staff in uniform, on-site at Australia's favourite cycling festival. But the cyclists of the Santos Tour Down Under Festival of Cycling are finally back in their gear for this year’s SA event that kicks off today.

Unfortunately the annual cycling festival has been unable to run the past 2 years due to COVID-19 restrictions, but we’re pleased to see it’s back in 2022.

This year's festival is running from 21st - 29th Jan, and sees 25 routes across SA’s most picturesque locations including the Barossa, Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula regions. All with Australia’s most elite cyclists battling for the coveted trophy of one of Australia’s most popular cycling events.

Our Agile Safety team will be in Echunga, managing the traffic control for the busiest point of the Women’s Stage 2 race - the finish line of the McLaren Vale to Echunga race, on 24th Jan. Our Traffic Management team will be closing Adelaide Road from 6am to 6pm, leaving the road clear so that the cyclists and attendees can enjoy the race in a safe environment.

Our team have been working with Mount Barker Council on permits and effective traffic planning management for the past few months to ensure minimal disruption to the locals and other road users, supported by our on-site Traffic Controllers on event days.

Throughout the nine day festival, guests, cycling enthusiasts and the participants stopping for a pit-stop flock to the Village. With some of Adelaide’s finest food and drink vendors, family friendly activities, rides, and live entertainment, it’s the bustling hub of the festival.

This year, The Village has moved to Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga. And our Agile Property Services team are there 21st - 29th, cleaning and servicing the space to keep it fresh and hygienic for guests throughout the day, and long after the guests have gone -  ready for another day of action.

We wish all participants the best of luck, and look forward to seeing you there.
